Skiers and riders can look forward to a good seasons start with good snow falls in the last few weeks. Mt Hutt in Canterbury are looking at opening 2 weeks ahead of schedule, a first time in decades. With a May 30 opening, staff from the Queenstown fields traveling through to help with the early opening. Methven township is buzzing with excitement as news of an early start is spreading through the area.

The Queenstown Winter Festival is this year held in June 26 to July 5 2009 is a 10 day nonstop programme with over 60 events covering sport, music, food and wine to name but a few.
